Our amazing librarians have been working hard to bring webinars directly to you and this month we have two programs that offer FREE MCLE credit! Our free webinars have been in high demand. Although they are online, our events are capped at 100 attendees, so sign up now to reserve your spot. In this webinar, one of our very own reference librarians will walk you through all of the resources that are available from the Law Library, including legal clinics, recordings of webinars, ways to submit reference requests, free document delivery, and legal databases available remotely.

Competency and the Practice of Law; and Implicit Bias v. Microaggression

The first part of the program, entitled “Competency and the Practice of Law,” will explore the impact of substance abuse and mental health issues on the practice of law. We will examine how the rules of professional conduct address these issues, resources offered by the State Bar, and common signs of substance abuse and mental health issues and how to respond.


The second part of this program is entitled, “MicroAggression: Implicit Biases Come to Life” and will define the terms implicit bias and microagression, explore how they impact the work environment, and discuss strategies to reduce implicit bias in decisions and actions.

It’s that time of year! Our annual class on the rules and regulations of coastal areas of San Diego has been updated to discuss the changes stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. Attendees will learn about beach laws from the people charged with enforcing them. Senior Park Ranger Karolynn Estrada Sparlin, Sergeant Rick Strobel from Lifeguard Services, and Officer Jeremy Huff from the San Diego Police Department will inform you on current regulations and answer your questions.
