Socks for Stand Down 2018
We are proud to announce that we are an official drop-off location for Socks for Stand Down 2018! Now through June 18th , we will be collecting new, unused socks to be donated to Stand Down San Diego. Socks for Stand Down was started in 2015 by Senator Toni G. Atkins after local Stand Down organizers expressed a need for socks and underwear for homeless veterans attending Stand Down.
San Diego’s 31st Annual Stand Down event will be held June 29th through July 1st. Stand Down San Diego is a collaborative event, sponsored by Veterans Village of San Diego. Under the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Stand Down events are one to three-day events providing supplies and services to homeless Veterans, such as food, shelter, clothing, health screenings and VA Social Security benefits counseling. Veterans also receive referrals to other assistance such as health care, housing solutions, employment, substance use treatment and mental health counseling.
