Selling People is a Crime

By Benita on January 09, 2014//Leave a comment

Get to know others in the southwest area who are dedicated to fighting against human trafficking at the Southwest Conference Against Trafficking, January 17-19, 2014 at the Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center in Pomona, CA.  The conference, since 2009, brings together hundreds of people wanting to end modern-day slavery in our society.  Our community partner, the Bilateral Safety Corridor Coalition (BSCC or “the Coalition”) will be co-sponsoring and director Marisa Ugarte is a featured speaker.

The Law Library is working with BSCC thanks to a grant by the Lawyer’s Club to train and educate the legal community about what trafficking is, what it is not, the laws surrounding it, and what the future of law may be.  This is an exciting three-part series that will be held at the main branch of the Law Library in the coming year.

The details of the conference are here: Southwest Conference Against Trafficking.  Go if you can — as a learning experience, as a supporter of human rights.  This is one thing we need to get right in our lifetimes: Every life is too precious to have a price.  No one should be for sale.
