Come to our last social event of the season on Thursday, December 11 from 4 to 6 p.m. We are excited to welcome library supporters, patrons, board members and distinguished leaders to our Third Annual Open House Holiday Party! Join us for festive holiday music, food sponsored by Robert Half Legal, beer sponsored by Lagunitas Brewing and wine.

We also invite you to cast your vote online or in person at any of our four locations for the 2014 Book of the Year Award and help us decide which book to add to our special collection. This year’s top three contenders are:

The Vespers’ Trial Cookbook: Italiano Cucina Rustica with Trial Tips for Lawyers gives civil trial lawyers success strategies both in the kitchen and the courtroom. Divided into 12 parts, the authors provide proven litigation tips at each stage of trial accompanied by delicious recipes.

The Divide: American Injustice in the Age of the Wealth Gap takes readers on a shocking journey of both sides of our new system of justice. On one side of the divide is the super-rich whose crimes go unpunished, and on the other side are the criminalized poor.

The Burgess Boys was named one of the best books of the year by The Washington Post, NPR, and Good Housekeeping. This is a creative and enthralling story about events that haunt our past and the ties that bind us to family and home.

We will announce the winning book at the Open House.
