This is a DVD presentation (not a live event) shown at the Library and is valid for 1 hour of MCLE Legal Ethics. This DVD was previously shown in North County on December 13, 2018. This class qualifies for Participatory MCLE Credit.
The duty of confidentiality is a core principle that applies to the attorney-client relationship. The scope of this duty and its application raises a number of ethical issues that will be discussed in this presentation, including:
- General rules: confidentiality of information
- Duties to former clients
- The “Generally Known” Exception
- Confidentiality obligations for lawyers who are blogging/providing public commentary
- Securing communication of a protected client communication
