Limited License Legal Practice

Here’s a hot topic for you: the State Bar of California has recently created a Limited License Practice Group. Essentially, non-lawyers who meet specific training criteria could be licensed to provide technical help on some civil cases. Paula Littlewood, executive director of the Washington State Bar Association, talked to the group about her state’s program, described in the May 2013 California Bar Journal. If you’re interested, you can subscribe to agendas & notices from the group. Their next meeting is in Los Angeles on May 22nd.
