Q. I need to file for bankruptcy but I am not sure what type of bankruptcy is available. Do you have any resources that explain the differences?

We referred the patron to two excellent guides on bankruptcy and she was able to determine the differences between Chapters 7, 11, 12, and 13.

The two resources are:

1. Nolo Press: The New Bankruptcy: Will It Work For You? which provides a concise overview of the different types of bankruptcy chapters so people can make an informed decision as to which type is right for their particular situation.

2. For a more in depth discussion, the library has the Rutter Group: California Practice Guide: Bankruptcy which discusses in greater detail considerations in selecting a particular chapter, including the advantages and disadvantages.
