Ten months into our fiscal year, we are on track to receive $2.6 million from San Diego Superior Court filing fees. The good news is, this is 10% more than we budgeted for!

However, this year’s projected total is still almost a 40% drop below the $4.2 million the library received 8 years ago in 2008-09. Over that same period, the cost of legal materials has gone up 60%. Repurposing the East County and South Bay branches, reducing the Westlaw legal database to one terminal per branch, canceling many print subscriptions, and reducing hours and staff are a direct result of this decline.
