Law Library Closed Memorial Day

By Kelly on May 17, 2019//Leave a comment

All Law Library locations will be closed Monday, May 27, for Memorial Day. Memorial Day honors the men and women who gave their lives while in military service. The Downtown and North County branches will be open their regular hours on Tuesday, May 28.

You can access many online resources while the Library is closed. Start with our Self-Help Center or the research and motion guides on our website. They cover dozens of legal topics. Also, you can read self-help legal books any time by clicking on the Nolo books link from the legal databases page.

Did you know that Memorial Day was started in 1868 as a ceremony called Decoration Day?  Decoration Day was established as a day for people to decorate the graves of the fallen soldiers from the Civil War. The original ceremony took place at Arlington National Cemetery, and the date was set for May 30th, as that was the time when the most flowers would be in bloom. For more information about the history of Memorial Day, check out the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs webpage.
