Law Day Events Start this Saturday

We are celebrating Law Day with a week-long exploration of the 2017 Theme, “The 14th Amendment: Transforming American Democracy.” The 14th Amendment reshaped American law and society by advancing the rights of all Americans through its clauses on Citizenship, Due Process and Equal Protection.


Saturday, April 29: City Heights Law Day is a free event at the City Heights Weingart Library, featuring free legal consultations, legal information presentations, and an information fair.


Monday, May 1: Legal Resource Information Fair at the El Cajon Branch of the San Diego County Library. Join us from 10 am to 2 pm for information on legal resources, demonstrations of legal databases, and referrals to legal providers.


Tuesday, May 2: The North County Bar Association will hold a Free Legal Clinic at the Vista Branch of the San Diego County Library from 12 pm to 7 pm. Walk-ins are welcome and attendees will be seen on a first come, first served basis. Legal areas include bankruptcy, criminal, immigration, and more.


If you missed the Legal Resource Information Fair in El Cajon, join us at the Chula Vista Public Library’s Civic Center branch from 10 am to 2pm today.


Wednesday, May 3: Join us for a FREE MCLE discussion, The 14th Amendment: Transforming American Democracy, at the Law Library’s Downtown location, from 12 pm to 1pm.


Thursday, May 4: The Center for Solo Practitioners from Thomas Jefferson School of Law will hold a Free Legal Clinic at the Law Library’s Downtown location from 1 pm to 3pm. Walk-ins are welcome and attendees will be seen on a first come, first served basis. Legal areas include employment, consumer, family, and more.


The San Diego Public Library’s Central Library is hosting a free showing of the documentary, The Loving Story, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The documentary focuses on the 1967 Supreme Court case, Loving v. Virginia, which legalized interracial marriage. Professor Bryan H. Wildenthal will introduce the film.
