This year, we are proud to have Ryan Benjamin and Stu Rees as featured guests at Law & Comics 2017. Comics fan and San Diego County Counsel Alec Beyer will moderate this year’s panel. We are partnering with the San Diego Central Library to host the event in the Neil Morgan Auditorium on July 18, 4:30-5:30pm.

The panel will address the challenges that creators face when trying bring their creations to market. How do small press publishers and other independents make their mark?

Ryan Benjamin has been a professional comic book artist and illustrator for over 20 years. He has worked on characters such as Batman Beyond, Star Wars, Suicide Squad, WildC.A.T.S., Ghost, and Batman. You can find his work in Odyssey of the Amazons from DC Comics and he is working on his creator-owned property, Brothers Bond with Kevin Grevioux.

Stu Rees has a solo legal practice representing hundreds of cartoonists in syndication and licensing contracts, while his Stu’s Views cartoons have been published in several hundred print and electronic forums throughout the world.

Alec Beyer is a long-time comics and Comic-Con fan. He is a Senior Deputy County Counsel, Office of County Counsel, County of San Diego.

Join Ryan, Stu, and Alec for this lively discussion on creators and publishers. See you there!
