The Law Library is proud to have Stu Rees as a guest for Law & Comics this year, returning for his seventh appearance. Stu is a local entertainment lawyer who represents visual artists. Notably, Stu represents hundreds of cartoonists in their negotiations with major newspaper comic strip syndicates, and more than 400 cartoonists and writers in a mix of online, greeting card, book licensing, and smaller syndication deals. He is the only lawyer specializing in syndication contracts.
Stu and his wife, Maddy Dodson, also an attorney, draw and write their own legally-themed cartoons, Stu’s Views. They have been published in several hundred print and electronic forums throughout the world.
Stu is the 2008 Award winner of the Silver T-Square from the National Cartoonists Society for pro bono legal services. The Silver T-Square is awarded, by unanimous vote of the National Cartoonist Society Board of Directors, to persons who have demonstrated outstanding dedication or service to the Society or the profession.
To put it simply, Stu is the lawyer for cartoonists and the cartoonist for lawyers.
Join Stu and our other guests for a fun and interactive panel at Law & Comics!
