Law and Comics Salutes Independent Creators in Just One Week
Date: Tuesday, July 19, 2016
Time: 4 – 5p.m.
MCLE: 1 hour general participatory credit
What is an independent creator? Independent creators keep control over their creations rather than create characters for another company (like Spider-Man for Marvel Comics). Creators keep control either by working with certain publishers who only publish the books while the creator retains their rights or by forming their own publishing companies.
We are proud to have two special guests who can provide a wealth of real-world experience about being an independent creator: Terry Moore – one of the most successful independent comic book creators around and who has been self-publishing since 1994; and Stu Rees – the attorney for cartoonists and the cartoonist for attorneys.
Join us Tuesday, July 19, at 4 pm at the San Diego Central Library’s Neil Morgan Auditorium for a fun discussion of the triumphs and travails of being an independent creator.
