For centuries traveling circuses entertained the American people and were big business. What you may not realize is that much of our modern intellectual property and media law issues have their roots in the historic circus. These bodies of law developed alongside (and often lagged behind) the development of new entertainment and technologies. The speakers will discuss the history of the circus and how performers, promoters, and brands used legal machinery to control their rights and image.
