FREE Webinar on COVID-19 and Taxes in Español (Mar 22) and English (Mar 29)

We are excited to announce a pair of FREE webinars we are hosting with the Legal Aid Society of San Diego‘s Low Income Taxpayer Clinic. Both community-oriented webinars will focus on the special issues faced by tax filers caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Speakers Shahin and Wendy will discuss the common tax issues and how the stimulus checks affect 2020 taxes. The first webinar, which takes place on Monday, March 22nd, will be in Spanish. The second webinar, which takes place on Monday, March 29th, will be in English.

En esta platica virtual, el equipo de Impuestos de Legal Aid Society of San Diego se enfocara en informar con detalles de la temporada de declaración de impuestos del 2021, y también  de las modificaciones a las leyes del Servicio de Rentas Internas (IRS) en respuesta al COVID-19 con respecto al:

  • Desempleo 
  • Ganancias por Interés 
  • Créditos selectos: Crédito Tributario por Ingreso del Trabajo (EITC), Crédito por Niños y Dependientes (CTC & ATC)  y Cheques de Estimulo.

In this webinar, representatives from Legal Aid Society of San Diego’s Low Income Taxpayer Clinic (LITC) will focus on explaining details and interesting facts about the Tax Filing Season for 2021, emphasizing on new COVID-19 tax updates related to:

 

  • Unemployment
  • Interest Income
  • Selected key credits including Earned Income Credit, Child Tax Credit, and Economic Impact Payments (Stimulus Check)

Shahin Rahimi es el Abogado Supervisor de la Clínica para Contribuyentes de Bajos Ingresos en Legal Aid Society of San Diego. Antes de trabajar en Legal Aid, el ejerció en litigios de Valores Privados. Recibió su JD de la California Western School of Law in 2002 y su Licenciatura en Ciencias Políticas de UC San Diego.

 

Wendy Romero es la Asesora Legal para la Clínica para Contribuyentes de Bajos Ingresos en Legal Aid Society of San Diego.  Recibió su Maestría de Relaciones internacionales de UC San Diego y su Licenciatura en Economía y Ciencias Políticas de SDSU.  Ella tiene una pasión en motivar a las personas a ser la mejor versión de si mismas por medio de la educación y otras herramientas del capital humano.

 

About the Speakers

 

Shahin Rahimi is the Supervising Attorney of the Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic at the Legal Aid Society of San Diego. Prior to working at Legal Aid, he practiced securities litigation. He received his JD from California Western School of Law in 2002 and a BA in Political Science from UC San Diego.

 

 

Wendy Romero is the LITC Outreach Coordinator for  Legal Aid Society of San Diego, where she educates and advocates for low-income taxpayers. She holds a Master of International Affairs from UC San Diego, and a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from SDSU. She has a passion for teaching, helping, and empowering others to become their best selves with the tools of human capital.
