Free Help Cleaning up Criminal Records

By Benita on January 22, 2015//Leave a comment

One of the most common barriers to finding employment is a criminal record. If you need help removing this obstacle, the San Diego Reentry Roundtable and the South Metro Career Center have teamed up to offer a monthly Clean Slate Clinic.

On the first Saturday of every month, eligible individuals may receive free legal information to help clean up their criminal records. The clinic can help you if:

1. You do not have any pending charges or outstanding warrants;

2. You are not on parole or have completed at least half of your probation term; and

3. You have your California State Department RAP sheets, local criminal history, and/or case numbers from the Superior Court – click here to find out how to get these documents.

The next clinic is on Saturday, February 7 from 10-2 p.m. at South Metro Center, 4389 Imperial Avenue, San Diego, CA 92113. To register for the clinic, call (619) 940-7577 and leave a voicemail message with your name and phone number (repeat it twice slowly). A volunteer will call you to review your eligibility and give you a registration number.

More information about the clinic is available online.
