Due to the Coronavirus crisis, we are all spending a LOT more time at home. We know that researching legal issues from home can be challenging so, we are constantly adapting to meet your legal research needs.

In order to provide you with greater access to primary law, we have secured a public subscription to the legal database Fastcase. This subscription provides at home access in Fastcase to both federal and state primary law. Which means access to codes, regulations, court decisions, and orders!

Not only do you get access to primary law from all 50 states, but Fastcase also has its own citator, called “Authority Check.” Authority Check allows you to make sure the case you are looking at is good law, and to see the cases that have cited the case you are viewing.

To access this legal database from the comfort of your own  home, just navigate to the Legal Databases page of our website. Fastcase is listed alphabetically. The user name and password are listed on the website. On the login page, below the password, you have the option of selecting either Fastcase 6 or Fastcase 7.

If you are unfamiliar with Fastcase 7, they have some helpful YouTube tutorial videos that they link to  their website. We recommend the “Introduction to Fastcase 7” and “Authority Check” to get you started.

And, as always, if you have any questions about this resource, please feel free to contact us via telephone or email!
