San Diego Law Library has plenty of exciting events to celebrating Law Day! This year’s theme is “Free Speech, Free Press, Free Society.”
A free press is a central pillar of American society. But, how does free speech relate to a free press at a time when it is so easy to fabricate stories and there is such a rush to publish that facts are not checked? We are partnering with the Chula Vista Public Library to bring you a FREE presentation entitled, “Fake News. Shoddy News. Good News.” Speaker Lorie Hearn, Founder, Executive Director, and Editor of inewsource, will discuss how to analyze and think critically about news sources. The presentation will take place at the Civic Center Branch’s Auditorium from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, May 6th.
The American Bar Association designated May 1st as Law Day, a national day set aside to celebrate the rule of law. This year’s theme is “Free Speech, Free Press, Free Society.” These three rights are the foundation of American society. This year’s theme encourages us all to educate and explore these fundamental rights to ensure that there can be liberty for all.
