No, this isn’t an April Fool’s joke! We will be opening the Downtown Location of the law library to the public by appointment only on April 1, 2021. You can make an appointment to use either a computer station or the resources in the Reading Room by signing up online.
But, be prepared, going to the library is going to be quite a different experience from pre-COVID times! You MUST have an appointment to enter the library. Appointments will be available on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and there will be two appointment options, either 9-11:30 AM or 12:30-3 PM. The law library will be closed 11:30 AM-12:30 PM to allow for the cleaning of workstations between appointments. The librarians will provide socially-distanced assistance and retrieve material from the stacks, which are closed to the public. Copying and printing will be limited.
Please note that by making an appointment you are required to follow our safety protocols including:
- wearing a face covering
- maintaining a safe social distance of 6 feet at all times in the facility
- prohibiting food or drinks in the building
- having your temperature taken prior to entering the building
- assuming the risk of handling any items while in the library
Once you make your appointment, you will receive a telephone call or email confirming your appointment. And, we will still be providing all of the same remote reference services that you have grown to love over the past few months. Our limited re-opening is just one of the many programs that we have made available to help you with your legal issues during the COVID-19 crisis. Check out our Resources from Home, Classes, Legal Databases, and COVID-19 Legal Issues pages for more information! And, as always, you can contact us via email, telephone, or Virtual Front Desk for information or assistance! We look forward to seeing you soon!
