The San Diego Superior Court is closing two business offices and centralizing its operations.

The Small Claims business office at the Kearny Mesa Courthouse will close on December 22, 2014. Starting on this date, the Civil Business Office at the Hall of Justice will accept Small Claims filings for the Kearny Mesa Courthouse. In addition, starting January 5, 2015, all civil appeals, all family appeals and all East and South County Division criminal appeals will be filed at the Central Courthouse.

These changes are being made because of severe budget cuts. The San Diego Superior Court estimates it will face a $9 million cut in the next two fiscal years. For more information, read the public notice here.

How do these and previous closures/cutbacks compare to the era of the Great Depression?
