Certificate of Service and Progress Repealed

Effective January 1, 2014, a certificate of service and certificate of progress is no longer required in San Diego Superior Court. Instead, the attorney or self-represented party files a proof of service with the court, after the defendant is served with a complaint.

Service must be completed within 60 days of filing the complaint. If additional time is needed for service, then the attorney or self-represented party files an ex parte application for extension of time with the assigned department.

For more information, read the Notice to Attorneys.
