The Legal Services Corporation awarded its Pro Bono Service Award to the Civil Appellate Self-Help Workshop. The workshop is a partnership of the Appellate Practice Section of the San Diego County Bar, the Court of Appeal’s Fourth District, Division One, the Legal Aid Society of San Diego, and the Law Library.

The workshop was founded in May 2014. In its first year, 69 self-represented litigants attended workshops held at the library. Several participants have had their cases go to completion with an opinion. The workshops have had a positive impact as attendees have fewer cases involuntarily dismissed compared to general self represented litigants.

The Law Library salutes all the volunteers for their resolve in providing access to justice.
