Announcing the 2021 Law Library Executive Board
The San Diego Law Library is happy to announce our Board of Trustees Executive Board for 2021.
Mara Elliott, Esq. was elected to serve a third consecutive term as President of the Board of Trustees. She is in her second term as the San Diego City Attorney. Prior to joining the city, President Elliot was a Senior Deputy County Counsel, where she advised the County of San Diego’s Finance and General Government Group, Public Safety Group, Community Services Groups, and Health and Human Services Agency. She also served as Deputy General Counsel to the San Diego Metropolitan Transit Development Board, where she advised on the expansion of public transit. A long-time community leader, President Elliott works to advance the status of women in the law, and was honored as Advocate of the Year for her work for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Carla DiMare, Esq. continues her term as Vice-President of the Board of Trustees. She is an experienced civil trial attorney and trained mediator who has represented numerous high-profile clients. Vice-President DiMare is also a social justice lawyer who has handled disputes and cases for victims who did not have the financial resources to hire a lawyer. These cases have included personal injury, civil rights violations, and Title IX abuses in schools.
Jeffrey D. Cawdrey, Esq. continues his term as Secretary of the Board of Trustees. He is a partner in Gordon & Rees’s San Diego office and national co-chair of its Bankruptcy, Restructuring & Creditors’ Rights practice group. Mr. Cawdrey has held several leadership positions on the Law Library Board of Trustees, including Vice President and three years as President.
Lorena Slomanson, Esq. continues her term as Treasurer for the Board of Trustees. She is Director of Development with the Legal Aid Society of San Diego. A native San Diegan, Ms. Slomanson received her J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law, where she serves on the Alumni Association’s Board of Directors. Prior to entering the field of public interest law, she enjoyed a diverse civil litigation practice focusing on personal injury and consumer protection. She has been recognized for her commitment to access to justice by the Board of Governors of the State Bar of California and by the Legal Aid Society.
“We are delighted that these amazing Trustees have volunteered their time to run the Law Library,” said Law Library Director John Adkins. Other Law Library Board of Trustees members include: Judge David Gill, Judge Julia Kelety, Judge Desirèe Bruce-Lyle, Judge Rachel Cano, and Judge Maryann D’Addezio.
