By Kelly on August 31, 2018//Leave a comment

The Honorable Desirée A. Bruce-Lyle has been selected to receive the prestigious Witkin Award for Excellence in Adjudication. The Witkin Awards are presented annually to honor members of the San Diego legal community for civic leadership and excellence in the practice of the law, adjudication of the law, legal education, and the advancement of access to justice. Join us Thursday, October 4, from 5 pm to 8 pm to honor this year’s recipients.

Judge Bruce-Lyle was appointed by Governor Davis in April 2001. Her assignments have included Criminal Court, Drug Court, Juvenile Delinquency, Prop 36 Court, Superior Court Appellate Panel, AB 109 Post Judgment Courts, and Veterans Treatment Court.

Judge Bruce-Lyle was instrumental in implementing Reentry Court, AB 109 Post Judgment Courts, and Veteran’s Treatment Court. More recently, her judicial leadership has been vital to managing San Diego’s challenging AB 109 population. At this time, she presides over Reentry Court, Mandatory Supervision Court, and Veterans Treatment Court.

This year, Judge Bruce-Lyle has been given the added responsibility as Assistant Supervising Criminal Judge and Chair for the San Diego Superior Court Collaborative Courts Committee. Her pioneering efforts in collaborative courts and with the AB 109 population have earned her statewide and international attention. We are proud to honor the Honorable Desirée A. Bruce-Lyle with this year’s Witkin Award for Excellence in the Adjudication of the law.

Join us for a wonderful evening at this year’s Witkin Awards. The awards will be held at Tom Ham’s Lighthouse, starting at 5 pm with cocktails. Dinner and comedian Mark Christopher Lawrence follow from 6 pm to 8:00 pm. The Witkin Award Ceremony is the primary fundraiser of the San Diego Law Library Foundation.
