Divorce Workshops

The San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program is offering FREE legal assistance to low-income individuals with their family law matters. If you do not have an attorney, please contact 619-235-5656 x124 to determine your eligibility and to schedule an appointment Clinics are normally held every Wednesday at the downtown Law Library at 1105 Front Street from 3:30 to 5:45pm. Note: you must call to make an appointment, walk-ins will be seen on a limited basis and cannot be guaranteed.

 

The Family Law Facilitator’s office offers free workshops to explain procedures and prepare forms.  Due to the State Court budget crisis, services and locations vary.  Check the Family Law Facilitator’s information on the Court website for hours of operation before you go.

 

Family Law Facilitator Divorce Workshop Locations

Thomas Jefferson School of Law – Family Law Self-Help Clinic for low to moderate income individuals. By APPOINTMENT ONLY, call 619-961-4371. Every other Thursday 5:30 to 7:30pm at Thomas Jefferson School of Law Clinical Programs 495 Eleventh Ave., San Diego, CA 92101.

 

Each Thomas Jefferson Family Law Self-Help Clinic appointment will consist of a half hour consultation with a licensed attorney and a law student. They will provide limited assistance only for those who are self represented. The clinic will not provide full or ongoing legal representation. In addition to a consultation, the Clinic will provide assistance with completing legal forms, computer access to complete the legal forms and conduct legal research, document review before submission to the court, and additional information about how to move forward with each individual’s case. The clinic will not assist with domestic violence issues, restraining orders or pension distributions.

 

Divorce Mediation Group – National Conflict Resolution Center

The Divorce Mediation Group offers a 3 hour workshop titled Divorce 101, it is held one Saturday a month at various locations. For more information check out their website, call 619-238-2400 extension 223,  or email kwerner@ncrconline.com.
